  • What is a Discovery Flight?
    A Discovery Flight offers an informal aviation experience aimed at introducing individuals to the thrill of flying. This brief flight allows you to get a taste of aviation without making a long-term training commitment. While on your Discovery Flight, you'll occupy the pilot's seat and actively participate in the flight, with the constant presence of a skilled pilot to guide you.   • Is it hard to learn to fly?
    Learning to fly is an achievable goal for anyone with a genuine interest in aviation. The satisfaction of taking to the skies and piloting an aircraft is an experience like no other. While it may require dedication, commitment, and effort, it's accessible to individuals of various backgrounds and ages. Flight training programs are designed to guide aspiring pilots through the necessary steps, from classroom instruction to hands-on flying with certified instructors. With the right mindset, a willingness to learn, and access to the resources needed, obtaining a pilot's license can be a highly satisfying and rewarding journey, opening up a world of freedom and adventure in the skies.
  • How old is too old to begin flying lessons?
    There is no strict age limit for embarking on the exciting journey of flight training. While older learners may encounter unique challenges when acquiring new skills, it's important to emphasize the power of passion for aviation and a strong commitment to learning, which can often outweigh age-related concerns. Collaborating with a dedicated flight instructor can provide valuable guidance and encouragement for those pursuing their aviation dreams later in life.
  • How long does it take to become a pilot?
    In order to attain a private pilot certificate, FAA's FAR Part 61 outlines the knowledge requirements and mandates a minimum of 40 hours of flight training, with 20 hours under the guidance of an instructor. A majority of individuals typically exceed the minimum training, with most completing their training within a range of 60 to 80 hours.
  • What planes do you use?
    We use Cessna 172s which are widely considered one of the best aircraft for flight training for several reasons. They are renowned for their reliability, stability, and forgiving flight characteristics, as well as efficiency and affordability make them ideal for student pilots. The Cessna 172's straightforward cockpit layout and intuitive controls simplify the learning process, allowing students to focus on building essential piloting skills.
  • How long is each flight lesson?
    We book 2 hour sessions, with an average of 1-1.5 hours in the air. The additional time will be spent with your instructor learing to pre and post-flight the plane, and complete your logbook entries.
  • How much does it cost?
    Our planes rent for $200 per hour, wet (including fuel). Instructors are $50 per hour, or $65 per hour with our chief flight instructor.
  • What do I need to start training?
    To get started with flight training, you shouldn't be without is a student logbook. This is used to track your cumulative flight hours, record what was covered during each lesson, and document endorsements from your instructor. While not an immediate necessity, you'll want to invest in a high-quality headset for clear communication and safety during your flights. We offer headset rentals for just $10 per session.
  • When will I train?
    We recommend students fly 3 times per week. Once you are set up in our scheduling system, our planes are available for you to book 24 hours a day. Our instructors are typically available 7am-7pm, with some individual availablity on the weekends.
  • Do you have planes for rent?
    Yes! Our Cessna 172s are available to certificated pilots (or students endorsed by us to solo) for $200 per hour, wet (including fuel).
